Meet Lauren

Ciao, Tutti! Here’s how my foodie obsession started.

Food has always been a part of my life. Sounds cliché and like a “duh” statement, right? Well, it is, but it’s also the truth. Growing up in a strict, conservative Italian home had a few advantages (honestly), and arguably, the biggest advantage was the food. My mom was always cooking, and the best days were when I could cook, too. My maternal nonna lived out of state, but when she visited, we lived in the kitchen.

After I got married, I had a deep desire to carry on the traditions my mom and nonna passed down to me. Wait. That’s not entirely true. I mean, it is true, but I left out the part about my obsession with cooking shows. Gordon Ramsay was the first to make cooking look fun, scary, artistic, and challenging. When people compliment my dishes, I really should tell them to compliment Chef Ramsay… or the creators of “Hell’s Kitchen.”

So, when I’m not grading infinite stacks of essays, I’m doing this, telling someone how to do this, or watching someone do this. I never really had a hobby growing up, so I guess God was nice enough to allow me to find one as an adult
